A photo booth made for being together.

Mochi is a small photo booth studio serving Greater Boston and Central Massachusetts. We build warm, easygoing experiences that help people forget the camera and enjoy the moment.

Thoughtfully made

From the light to the prints, every detail is designed to feel simple, personal, and fun.

Built with care

Mochi started as a cardboard idea and grew into the booth we bring to celebrations today.

Made for your people

Weddings, birthdays, graduations, and nights with friends—we’re here to help make them memorable.

Why Mochi?

The night ends. The feeling comes home with you.

A little joy, shared.

We love mochi for the simple pleasure of sharing something good. A photo booth starts with that same invitation: come closer, squeeze in, make room for one more.

The best part is being together.

Years from now, you might forget the playlist or what you wore. But a photo strip brings you back to who was beside you, how hard you laughed, and what it felt like to be there.

Something small. Something worth keeping.

Mochi felt right for what we wanted to create: a little happiness you can hold. A strip tucked into a wallet or pinned to a fridge becomes a reminder of your people and a moment you're glad you kept.

A small idea that turned into something we really care about.

It started with a camera, time, a party, and one simple thought.

What if we made our own photo booth?

Photography had always been something we loved. Every year, we would throw parties, take way too many photos, and somehow the ones we remembered most were never the perfectly posed ones. They were the blurry ones. The ones where someone jumped into the frame at the last second. The ones where everyone was laughing too hard to look at the camera. Those were the photos that actually felt like the moment. So we wanted to create something that could make more of those moments happen.

It started with cardboard.

Our very first photo booth was made out of cardboard. It was simple, rough around the edges, and definitely looked like a first attempt. But it worked. People stepped in front of it, laughed, posed, squeezed into the frame, and walked away with a photo from a moment that had happened only seconds before. Seeing people enjoy something we had built ourselves was a feeling we didn’t expect. And that was enough to make us want to keep going.

The second version was made out of wood. It was stronger, more durable, and much more intentional. It started to feel less like a quick experiment and more like something we could be proud to bring into someone else’s event. From there, we kept refining.

The structure changed.
The lighting improved.
The setup became smoother.
The details became more thoughtful.

Every version taught us something new. What started as cardboard slowly became something more polished, not because we had everything figured out from the beginning, but because we cared enough to keep improving it.

Built through creativity, patience, and a lot of trial and error.

Mochi has never been about getting everything right the first time. A lot of what we’ve built came from experimenting. Trying new ideas. Realizing something didn’t work. Taking it apart. And trying again. There were plenty of moments where it would have been easier to say, “This is good enough.” But we always found ourselves asking the same question:

How can we make this better?

That mindset shaped everything. It taught us creativity, because every problem needed a new solution. It taught us patience, because good ideas often took more time than expected. And it taught us dedication, because the little details mattered to us, even if most people would never notice them.

For us, those details are what turn something functional into something memorable.

Why Mochi?

You’re probably wondering where the name came from. For us, mochi has always felt like more than just a sweet treat. It’s small, simple, playful, and somehow still feels exciting every time you get one. That feeling was exactly what we wanted this experience to have. Something that makes people smile before they even step in front of the camera. Something fun to share.

That’s what Mochi means to us. A little bit of joy, wrapped into an experience people can take home with them. And just like mochi itself, we wanted the brand to feel warm, inviting, and a little unexpected.

Even this website took time.

The booth wasn’t the only thing we kept rebuilding. This website went through the same process. What you’re looking at now took months of redesigning, developing, scrapping ideas, starting over, and obsessing over details that most people will probably never notice.

There were layouts we loved one week and completely changed the next. Pages were redesigned. Small interactions were adjusted over and over. Some ideas looked great in our heads and just didn’t feel right once we built them.

For us, the experience doesn’t begin when the camera starts counting down. It begins the first time someone discovers us. The booth, the prints, the website, the design, the little details — they’re all part of the same story.

We’re still figuring it out.

Mochi has come a long way from that first cardboard booth. Cardboard became wood. Wood became a more refined booth. A small project became months of designing, building, coding, testing, rebuilding, and learning. And somehow, we still look at it and think:

How can we make this even better?

We hope we never lose that feeling. Every event gives us another chance to learn something. Another chance to try something new. Another chance to make the experience a little smoother, a little more fun, and a little more memorable. Because every event means something to the people there.

A birthday.
A wedding.
A graduation.
A reunion.
A night with friends.

Sometimes it’s a room full of people who may not all be together like that again for a long time. Being trusted to capture even a small piece of those moments means a lot to us.

So we’ll keep building.
Keep experimenting.
Keep improving.

And hopefully keep giving people more reasons to step into the booth, forget about the camera for a second, and just enjoy being there.
